IBAN API
Generate and validate test IBANs for 91 countries from your own code. JSON responses, one API key.
What you can use it for
- Test suites and CI pipelines that need fresh, valid IBANs on every run instead of hard-coded samples.
- Sandbox data, demos and training environments for back-office and banking tools.
- Scripts and services that need valid IBAN formats without maintaining their own generator.
curl -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY" \

Get an API key
Keys are issued by hand. Email us a line about what you are building and we will reply with your key and its rate limit.
Send the key in the X-API-Key header with every request. An Authorization: Bearer header works too.

The reference covers every endpoint, authentication, rate limits and errors, with examples you can copy and paste.
Working with AI agents? The public MCP server offers the same generator and validator as tools, and needs no key.
Validate IBANs offline in JavaScript
Need validation inside your own app, without network calls or an API key? iban-check is our open-source library for JavaScript and TypeScript. It checks the characters, country, length, BBAN structure and MOD-97 check digits against the SWIFT IBAN Registry, says why an IBAN is invalid and extracts the bank and branch codes. No runtime dependencies, MIT licence.
npm install iban-check
import { validateIBAN } from "iban-check";
validateIBAN("DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00").valid;
// true
validateIBAN("DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 01").error;
// "INVALID_CHECKSUM"
