Kuwaiti IBAN generator

IBANs in Kuwait have 30 characters and start with KW. The one below is random, follows the national structure and passes the MOD-97 check, so form validation accepts it. No bank issued it.

In CSV, JSON and SQL, every IBAN segment (bank, branch, account, check digits) gets its own column.

MOD-97 valid

Realistic mode: real bank code, random account number. No bank issued this IBAN, but it could match a real account by chance. Never use it for payments.

Real bank codes in realistic mode

In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

Bank Bank code
National Bank of Kuwait NBOK
Kuwait Finance House KFHO
Gulf Bank GULB
Burgan Bank BRGN
Boubyan Bank BBYN

Commercial Bank of Kuwait COMB

What to test with KW IBANs

  • Accept exactly 30 characters for KW, after removing spaces, and reject 29 or 31.
  • Letters are required at positions 5–8. Test lowercase input too, and convert it to uppercase before you validate.
  • Letters or digits at positions 9–30: a digits-only regex rejects valid KW IBANs. Realistic mode, the default, uses digits only there; with Realistic off, the generator puts letters there about half the time.
  • Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: KW81CBKU0000000000001234560102 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and KW81CBKU000000000000123456010 (one character missing).
  • Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as KFHO (Kuwait Finance House), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.

About IBANs in Kuwait

Kuwaiti IBANs have 30 characters: a 4-letter bank code taken from the bank's BIC (SWIFT code), followed by a 22-character account number, which is the existing account number padded with leading zeros. Only Russia, Saint Lucia, Malta and Seychelles have longer IBANs. Kuwait's format took effect on 1 January 2011 and is used for payments between banks in Kuwait as well as cross-border ones.

Questions about IBANs in Kuwait

How long is an IBAN in Kuwait?

30 characters: the country code KW, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 26 characters.

What does an IBAN from Kuwait look like?

For example KW81 CBKU 0000 0000 0000 1234 5601 01. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: KW81CBKU0000000000001234560101.

Can Kuwaiti IBANs contain letters?

Yes. KW IBANs always have uppercase letters at positions 5–8: CBKU in the registry example. Letters or digits are allowed at positions 9–30, although the registry example has only digits there.

Where is the bank code in Kuwaiti IBANs?

The bank code, at positions 5–8: CBKU in the registry example. By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as NBOK for National Bank of Kuwait.

Will a test IBAN for Kuwait pass validation?

It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.

Can I use a generated Kuwaiti IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?

No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
