Generate a list Up to 100 IBANs, as CSV, JSON, SQL or plain text
In CSV, JSON and SQL, every IBAN segment (bank, branch, account, check digits) gets its own column.
Test data only. No bank issued this IBAN. Realistic mode: real bank code, random account number. No bank issued this IBAN, but it could match a real account by chance. Never use it for payments.

Add the MCP server to Claude, Cursor or VS Code and ask for test IBANs right in the chat. No account, no API key.
What is inside an IBAN
Every IBAN has the same three parts. Only the last one changes from country to country.
DE893704 0044 0532 0130 00
Country code DE
Two letters from ISO 3166-1, such as DE for Germany or IT for Italy. They say which national format the rest follows.
Check digits 89
Two digits computed with MOD-97 from the whole IBAN. They catch nearly every typo, such as a wrong digit or two swapped characters.
BBAN 3704…
The national account number: a bank code, often a branch code, the account number and in some countries a national check digit. Here it is 11 to 27 characters long, depending on the country.
IBAN generator by country
Pick a country to see its IBAN format and get a valid test IBAN. The number next to each code is the IBAN length.

Need IBANs in a test suite, a CI pipeline or an AI agent? The same generator runs behind a REST API and a public MCP server.
- REST API Generate up to 100 IBANs per request, validate IBANs and read country formats. Needs an API key, issued by email.
- MCP server Lets AI agents generate and validate test IBANs. Public, no key needed.

Learn about IBANs
IBANpedia explains the IBAN in plain language, from its history to the differences between countries.
- What is an IBAN? The international account number, part by part: country code, check digits and the national account number.
- A short history of the IBAN From a European banking committee in the 1990s to a registry used worldwide: the standard, its revisions and the countries that joined.
- IBAN formats by country Why a Norwegian IBAN has 15 characters and a Maltese one 31, with the format of every country we support.
- How IBAN check digits work The MOD-97 method step by step, with a worked example you can follow on paper and a few lines of code.
- National check digits in the IBAN The check digits many countries keep inside the account number, from the French clé RIB to the Italian CIN, and how they differ from the IBAN ones.
- IBAN vs BIC (SWIFT code) One code points to an account, the other to a bank. When you need each one, and why SEPA dropped the BIC.
- IBAN and SEPA How the Single Euro Payments Area made the IBAN the only number you need for a euro transfer.
- Countries that do not use IBAN The US, Canada, Australia, China and India identify accounts differently. What they use, and how to pay into them.

Frequently asked questions
What is a random IBAN generator?
A tool that creates IBANs with a valid structure: the right country code, length and format, plus check digits that pass the MOD-97 test. Developers and testers use them to fill in payment forms and test data without touching real bank details.
Are these IBANs real or fake?
They are test IBANs, sometimes called fake IBANs: the account number is random and the check digits are correct. No bank issued them, so never use one for a real payment.
Will a generated IBAN pass validation?
It passes the structural checks: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits, plus the national check digits wherever an official algorithm is known. Checks that need bank data are different. A bank directory check accepts it if realistic mode, the default, gave it a real bank code, which we have for some countries, and usually rejects it otherwise. An account lookup will not confirm it.
How does the MOD-97 check work?
Move the first four characters to the end, replace each letter with two digits (A = 10, B = 11, up to Z = 35) and divide the resulting number by 97. If the remainder is 1, the check digits are correct. The method comes from ISO 7064 and is part of the IBAN standard, ISO 13616.
Which countries are supported?
91 countries and territories: every one in the SWIFT IBAN Registry, plus Algeria and Morocco. They include all 27 EU member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway, and countries across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas, such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Costa Rica. Each one follows its own national format.
