Real bank codes in realistic mode
In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

|---|---|---|
| Bank of Africa Mer Rouge | 10002 |
01001 |
What to test with DJ IBANs
- Accept exactly 27 characters for DJ, after removing spaces, and reject 26 or 28.
- Digits only after the check digits: a validator for DJ should reject any letter there.
- Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: DJ2100010000000154000100187 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and DJ210001000000015400010018 (one character missing).
- Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as 10002 (Bank of Africa Mer Rouge), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.
About IBANs in Djibouti
Djiboutian IBANs have 27 characters and are numeric: a 5-digit bank code, a 5-digit branch code, an 11-digit account number and 2 final digits. That is the French layout, except that the account number cannot contain letters. The format was registered by the Banque Centrale de Djibouti and took effect in 2022.
Questions about IBANs in Djibouti
How long is an IBAN in Djibouti?
27 characters: the country code DJ, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 23 characters.
What does an IBAN from Djibouti look like?
For example DJ21 0001 0000 0001 5400 0100 186. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: DJ2100010000000154000100186.
Can Djiboutian IBANs contain letters?
No. After the check digits, DJ IBANs contain only digits: the BBAN pattern is 5n5n11n2n.
Where is the bank code in Djiboutian IBANs?
The bank code, at positions 5–9: 00010 in the registry example. The branch code is at positions 10–14 (00000). By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as 10002 for Bank of Africa Mer Rouge.
Will a test IBAN for Djibouti pass validation?
It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.
Can I use a generated Djiboutian IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?
No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
