Monaco IBAN generator

IBANs in Monaco have 27 characters and start with MC. The one below is random, follows the national structure and passes the MOD-97 check, so form validation accepts it. No bank issued it.

  1. Country MC
  2. Check digits 58

Generate a list Up to 100 IBANs, as CSV, JSON, SQL or plain text

In CSV, JSON and SQL, every IBAN segment (bank, branch, account, check digits) gets its own column.

MOD-97 valid

Realistic mode: real bank code, random account number. No bank issued this IBAN, but it could match a real account by chance. Never use it for payments.

Length, pattern and the position of each segment in MC IBANs, with a sample IBAN.

IBAN length 27
BBAN length 23
BBAN pattern 5n5n11c2n
Structure MCkk bbbbb ggggg ccccccccccc kk
Example, electronic MC5811222000010123456789030
Example, print MC58 1122 2000 0101 2345 6789 030
Letters in the BBAN Positions 15–25: letters or digits
National check digits Positions 26–27
IBAN check digits MC58 when the account number has only digits
Same structure as France (FR)

Position by position

Segment Positions Length Example
Country 1–2 2 MC
Check digits 3–4 2 58
Bank code 5–9 5 11222
Branch code 10–14 5 00001
Account number 15–25 11 01234567890
National check 26–27 2 30

In the pattern, n stands for a digit, a for an uppercase letter and c for a letter or digit. The number before each letter is how many characters that block has.

National check digits

Besides the two IBAN check digits, MC IBANs carry national check digits inside the BBAN, at positions 26–27. They come from the domestic account number and follow a national rule.

This is the clé RIB: 97 minus the remainder of 89 × bank code + 15 × branch code + 3 × account number, divided by 97. Letters in the account number first become digits (A and J count as 1, B, K and S as 2, and so on).

This generator calculates them with the official algorithm, in both modes, so validators that check them accept the IBANs on this page.

Because of this check, an all-digit BBAN always leaves the same remainder when divided by 97, so every MC IBAN whose account number has only digits starts with MC58. Letters in the account number change the check digits.

How national check digits work

Real bank codes in realistic mode

In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

Bank Bank code Branch code
CFM Indosuez Wealth Management 12739 00070
CMB Monaco 17569 00001
Société Générale Monte-Carlo 30003 01504
BNP Paribas Monte-Carlo 30004 09170
LCL Monte-Carlo 30002 03243
CIC Lyonnaise de Banque (Monaco) 10096 18579
Bank Julius Baer (Monaco) 14508 00001
UBS (Monaco) 11999 00001

What to test with MC IBANs

  • Accept exactly 27 characters for MC, after removing spaces, and reject 26 or 28.
  • Letters or digits at positions 15–25: a digits-only regex rejects valid MC IBANs. Realistic mode, the default, uses digits only there; with Realistic off, the generator puts letters there about half the time.
  • For a negative test of the national check, change the character at position 26 and recalculate the IBAN check digits (the validator suggests them). The IBAN then passes MOD-97 but fails the national check.
  • Same structure as France (FR). The country code is part of the MOD-97 calculation, so a valid MC IBAN with another country code in front must fail.
  • Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: MC5811222000010123456789031 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and MC581122200001012345678903 (one character missing).
  • Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as 17569 (CMB Monaco), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.

About IBANs in Monaco

Monaco's IBANs follow the French format exactly: 27 characters with a 5-digit bank code, a 5-digit branch code, an 11-character account number and a 2-digit RIB key. Only the country code changes from FR to MC; Monaco has had its own entry in the IBAN Registry since January 2008.

Questions about IBANs in Monaco

How long is an IBAN in Monaco?

27 characters: the country code MC, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 23 characters.

What does an IBAN from Monaco look like?

For example MC58 1122 2000 0101 2345 6789 030. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: MC5811222000010123456789030.

Can Monaco IBANs contain letters?

Yes. Letters or digits are allowed at positions 15–25, although the registry example has only digits there.

Where is the bank code in Monaco IBANs?

The bank code, at positions 5–9: 11222 in the registry example. The branch code is at positions 10–14 (00001). By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as 12739 for CFM Indosuez Wealth Management.

Will a test IBAN for Monaco pass validation?

It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. The national check digits inside the BBAN are computed with the official algorithm, so a validator that also checks them accepts this IBAN. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.

Can I use a generated Monaco IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?

No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
