In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

What to test with CY IBANs
- Accept exactly 28 characters for CY, after removing spaces, and reject 27 or 29.
- Letters or digits at positions 13–28: a digits-only regex rejects valid CY IBANs. Realistic mode, the default, uses digits only there; with Realistic off, the generator puts letters there about half the time.
- Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: CY17002001280000001200527601 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and CY1700200128000000120052760 (one character missing).
- Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as 005 (Eurobank (ex Hellenic Bank)), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.
About IBANs in Cyprus
Cypriot IBANs have 28 characters: a 3-digit bank code, a 5-digit branch code and a 16-character account number that can contain letters. Cyprus has used the euro since 2008.

How long is an IBAN in Cyprus?
28 characters: the country code CY, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 24 characters.
What does an IBAN from Cyprus look like?
For example CY17 0020 0128 0000 0012 0052 7600. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: CY17002001280000001200527600.
Can Cypriot IBANs contain letters?
Yes. Letters or digits are allowed at positions 13–28, although the registry example has only digits there.
Where is the bank code in Cypriot IBANs?
The bank code, at positions 5–7: 002 in the registry example. The branch code is at positions 8–12 (00128). By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as 002 for Bank of Cyprus.
Will a test IBAN for Cyprus pass validation?
It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.
Can I use a generated Cypriot IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?
No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
