In the pattern, n stands for a digit, a for an uppercase letter and c for a letter or digit. The number before each letter is how many characters that block has.

What to test with LC IBANs

  • Accept exactly 32 characters for LC, after removing spaces, and reject 31 or 33.
  • Letters are required at positions 5–8. Test lowercase input too, and convert it to uppercase before you validate.
  • Letters or digits at positions 9–32: a digits-only regex rejects valid LC IBANs. Realistic mode, the default, uses digits only there; with Realistic off, the generator puts letters there about half the time.
  • Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: LC55HEMM000100010012001200023016 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and LC55HEMM00010001001200120002301 (one character missing).
  • Bank directory checks: the bank code is random in both modes, so a directory lookup will usually fail.

Saint Lucian IBANs have 32 characters, the second-longest format in the IBAN Registry after Russia's 33. The BBAN is a 4-letter bank code followed by a 24-character account number. Saint Lucia was added to the registry in June 2015, and a 2016 amendment allowed letters in the account number, which had been digits only. The entry was submitted by the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards.
