Albanian IBAN generator

IBANs in Albania have 28 characters and start with AL. The one below is random, follows the national structure and passes the MOD-97 check, so form validation accepts it. No bank issued it.

Generate a list Up to 100 IBANs, as CSV, JSON, SQL or plain text

In CSV, JSON and SQL, every IBAN segment (bank, branch, account, check digits) gets its own column.

MOD-97 valid

Realistic mode: real bank code, random account number. No bank issued this IBAN, but it could match a real account by chance. Never use it for payments.

Check an IBAN

Length, pattern and the position of each segment in AL IBANs, with a sample IBAN.

IBAN length 28
BBAN length 24
BBAN pattern 8n16c
Structure ALkk bbb ssss x cccccccccccccccc
Example, electronic AL47212110090000000235698741
Example, print AL47 2121 1009 0000 0002 3569 8741
Letters in the BBAN Positions 13–28: letters or digits
National check digits Position 12

Position by position

Segment Positions Length Example
Country 1–2 2 AL
Check digits 3–4 2 47
Bank code 5–7 3 212
Branch code 8–11 4 1100
National check 12 1 9
Account number 13–28 16 0000000235698741

In the pattern, n stands for a digit, a for an uppercase letter and c for a letter or digit. The number before each letter is how many characters that block has.

National check digits

Besides the two IBAN check digits, AL IBANs carry national check digits inside the BBAN, at position 12. They come from the domestic account number and follow a national rule.

The digit checks the 3-digit bank code and the 4-digit branch code: weights 9, 7, 3, 1 repeated, then 10 minus the remainder modulo 10. The account number has no national check.

This generator calculates them with the official algorithm, in both modes, so validators that check them accept the IBANs on this page.

How national check digits work

Real bank codes in realistic mode

In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

Bank Bank code Branch code
Raiffeisen Bank 202 1100
Banka Kombëtare Tregtare (BKT) 205 1100
Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania 208 1100
Banka Credins 212 1100
ProCredit Bank 209 1100
Tirana Bank 206 1100
Union Bank 214 1100
OTP Bank Albania 902 1101

What to test with AL IBANs

  • Accept exactly 28 characters for AL, after removing spaces, and reject 27 or 29.
  • Letters or digits at positions 13–28: a digits-only regex rejects valid AL IBANs. Realistic mode, the default, uses digits only there; with Realistic off, the generator puts letters there about half the time.
  • For a negative test of the national check, change the character at position 12 and recalculate the IBAN check digits (the validator suggests them). The IBAN then passes MOD-97 but fails the national check.
  • Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: AL47212110090000000235698742 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and AL4721211009000000023569874 (one character missing).
  • Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as 205 (Banka Kombëtare Tregtare (BKT)), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.

About IBANs in Albania

Albanian IBANs have 28 characters. The BBAN starts with an 8-digit code: a 3-digit bank code, a 4-digit branch code and a check digit computed from those 7 digits. A 16-character account number follows, and it can contain letters. Albania's format entered the IBAN Registry in April 2009, and Albania was admitted to SEPA in November 2024.

Questions about IBANs in Albania

How long is an IBAN in Albania?

28 characters: the country code AL, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 24 characters.

What does an IBAN from Albania look like?

For example AL47 2121 1009 0000 0002 3569 8741. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: AL47212110090000000235698741.

Can Albanian IBANs contain letters?

Yes. Letters or digits are allowed at positions 13–28, although the registry example has only digits there.

Where is the bank code in Albanian IBANs?

The bank code, at positions 5–7: 212 in the registry example. The branch code is at positions 8–11 (1100). By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as 202 for Raiffeisen Bank.

Will a test IBAN for Albania pass validation?

It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. The national check digits inside the BBAN are computed with the official algorithm, so a validator that also checks them accepts this IBAN. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.

Can I use a generated Albanian IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?

No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
