Salvadoran IBAN generator

IBANs in El Salvador have 28 characters and start with SV. The one below is random, follows the national structure and passes the MOD-97 check, so form validation accepts it. No bank issued it.

Realistic mode: real bank code, random account number. No bank issued this IBAN, but it could match a real account by chance. Never use it for payments.

Real bank codes in realistic mode

In realistic mode, the default, the generator takes the bank code from this list and keeps the account number random, so no bank issued these IBANs. With Realistic off, the bank code is random too.

Bank Bank code
Banco Agrícola CAGR
Banco Cuscatlán BACU
Banco Davivienda Salvadoreño BSAL
BAC El Salvador BAMC
Banco Promerica BPRA
Banco Hipotecario BHSA
Banco de Fomento Agropecuario FOAG

What to test with SV IBANs

  • Accept exactly 28 characters for SV, after removing spaces, and reject 27 or 29.
  • Letters are required at positions 5–8. Test lowercase input too, and convert it to uppercase before you validate.
  • Same structure as Honduras (HN), Nicaragua (NI). The country code is part of the MOD-97 calculation, so a valid SV IBAN with another country code in front must fail.
  • Ready-made invalid values for negative tests: SV62CENR00000000000000700026 (last character changed, MOD-97 fails) and SV62CENR0000000000000070002 (one character missing).
  • Bank directory checks: by default the generator uses real bank codes such as BACU (Banco Cuscatlán), and random ones with Realistic off, so you can test a known and an unknown bank.

About IBANs in El Salvador

Salvadoran IBANs have 28 characters: a 4-letter bank code followed by a 20-digit account number. The layout follows the bank account standard that the Central American Monetary Council approved in February 2008 for Central America and the Dominican Republic. The registry's print example, SV 62 CENR 00000000000000700025, is not split into groups of four, so parsers should not depend on that grouping.

Questions about IBANs in El Salvador

How long is an IBAN in El Salvador?

28 characters: the country code SV, two check digits and a national part (BBAN) of 24 characters.

What does an IBAN from El Salvador look like?

For example SV62 CENR 0000 0000 0000 0070 0025. That is the print format, in groups of four. Forms and files usually take it without spaces: SV62CENR00000000000000700025.

Can Salvadoran IBANs contain letters?

Yes. SV IBANs always have uppercase letters at positions 5–8: CENR in the registry example.

Where is the bank code in Salvadoran IBANs?

The bank code, at positions 5–8: CENR in the registry example. By default (realistic mode) the generator uses real bank codes, such as CAGR for Banco Agrícola.

Will a test IBAN for El Salvador pass validation?

It passes the checks most forms run: country code, length, character format and MOD-97 check digits. In realistic mode, the default, the bank code is real too, so a bank directory check accepts it. An account lookup or a payee name check will not confirm it, because the account number is random.

Can I use a generated Salvadoran IBAN to sign up for a service or receive money?

No. It is test data that no bank issued to you. Money sent to it is rejected or, if the number happens to belong to someone, reaches a stranger, and using it for a sign-up, a free trial or a direct debit is misuse. Your own IBAN is in your banking app and on your statements.
